quirky france wedding photography & video //
It was nothing less than inspiring to be photographing & filming Anne & Larry’s wedding in the small French village of Giverny, once home to the incredible Claude Monet. To be surrounded by so much culture & colour was a constant source of excitement for us. It is always special to witness a wedding in a language you do not speak; you get to really immerse yourself in the characters and emotions when you have no idea what conversations are happening – you can feel the conversations. The wedding party prepared in the idyllic rooms of La Dime Giverny, which would later host the evening celebrations. A short amble through the village and we were at the Town Hall, ready to witness the wedding ceremony conducted by the town’s very own mayor. With the full wedding accompanying them, Anne & Larry led the stroll back to La Dime Giverny for the second part of the ceremony which gave that extra personal touch to the day. We weren’t able to translate any of the French but we definitely heard the words ‘American Cheesecake’ and smiled. The rest of the day was as chilled an evening as you could want on your wedding day; outdoor games, beautiful snack tables, vinyl selections, burgers + fries, dreamy first dances & a wall of donuts.
It’s so fudgin’ awesome to experience new wedding cultures & traditions. This trip to France really piqued our creative interests again & set us up for the busy wedding season. We would not even think twice about photographing a wedding there again – 1,000 times YES!
