Alternative Edinburgh city wedding | Gold heels + tweed suit

Becca & Matt got married in Edinburgh’s Old Town at Hotel du vin. It was a a super chilled day and they both looked absolutely incredible. They had an intimate ceremony in the Burke and Hare room. We are gonna do something a bit different with this post and let you read about our couples, in their own words. How novel!

Who has the better taste in music?

Well Matt thinks it is him. But hes so emo…..

the proposal

Christmas day 2015….I had bitched to my friends in work that he had only bought me a frame as it’s the only present he had packed in our suit case for flying back to my parents in Northern Ireland…. I felt reallllllllllly bad when i opened it to see a little lego bride and groom holding up signs saying ‘Will you marry me?’. Next thing he produced a ring from nowhere and the ugly crying started. Through the tears i managed to answer with a yes. The frame now hangs above our bed and is high up the priority of list of ‘things to take when the house is burning down’.

What made Hotel du vin the right venue for you?

Well we like to be a little bit weird about things. We knew we wanted to keep our wedding small and we wanted a venue to match that. Being in some big hall that we feel like we are rattling about wasn’t an option. We had seen an advert in the back of one of the wedding venue guides and had a google. We liked that it wasn’t in every single magazine or a venue that we had heard of people getting married in. Matt’s reason for picking it is the fact it used to be an asylum which makes it pretty damn cool. Its got such a nice feel inside and the food is incredible!

Looking at our work, what kind of image you would most like to have in your wedding gallery?

Excuse the swearing but we fucking loved our engagement photos! That nice chilled out style and a few moody shots too – you know we are game for anything!

what are you most excited about for the big day (apart from actually getting hitched)?

Having our favourite people all together at one time. With our family and friends being all over it will be lovely to celebrate together. Also…i know i mentioned it before…but being an official step mum to Evie is a huge thing for me. Super excited to get the title from my favourite role in life 🙂

Is a honeymoon on the cards?

We are going to the lakes then up to the highlands.

honeymoon in Glencoe, Scotland

If you can’t get married in Glencoe – you can sure have the honeymoon of a lifetime instead! Kate & Alec got married in Massachusetts and came over to Scotland for their honeymoon. The weather was insane, maybe even the wildest we’ve ever shot in! It was freezing, there was hailstones, there was gusty winds but that didn’t stop these guys from hitting all the top Glencoe spots. The classic Glen Etive made an appearance (once the fog had lifted) and we made our way over to the epicly famous Three Sisters of Glencoe. Scotland is such a beautiful place & we can’t believe all of this is on our doorstep. If you are making a trip to Glencoe for your elopement or honeymoon or any trip at all – why not keep on driving all the way through to the Isle of Skye, another of our favourite Scottish landscapes.

Islington Town Hall to the Hoxton Hotel | a surprise London wedding

» full gallery bonanza «

A super stylish, quirky and alternative London wedding which began in Shoreditch House Hotel near the Old Spitalfields Market. The ceremony took place at Islington Town Hall before we left for the party at the Apartment at the Hoxton Hotel. This wedding had everything from super tasteful little details, amazing food and a DJ set by the bride which had the crowd going wild. A Storm Trooper led the newlyweds from the ceremony to the reception before a Donald Trump impersonator (what??) toastmaster took charge for the evening. The bride and groom decided to surprise their evening guests (who believed they were only going to an engagement party!) with a big announcement following a small and intimate family ceremony, before the party to end all parties, with pizza, champagne and a band. Did we dream this? No!
